I can't believe that I'm an Ex-PPC member.

Woah. Stay away long enough and you kind of forget the lapse of time. It's been...what? Eight months? Nine? Yeah... sorry 'bout that.

Anyway, I've also noticed that no one really posts on here, but most of you are on my friends list already so... I guess it doesn't matter much?

I feel dirty...

W-ell...This is Blayze. And I guess I could say I haven't really quit. My agents are still part, but I'm largely inactive.

I suppose it's because when I joined (I was...12? Sooo.. late 2003/2004, I think.) I was largely involved in the chatroom with Dor and Hawky and Ori and the like. Fun people, fun people. Heck, I was Varda for the once-infamous Varda/Morgoth RPs. (BID's cool, too.) But then Dor sort of didn't chat, Ori didn't, Hawky was a rarity, I had AIM where my big sis (Hawks) was, and people like the-one-C-chick weren't...Newbies flooded everything, I wasn't that comfortable, certain people got bitchy, and everyone I knew quit. And I'm actually crappy at writing PPC stories. So. I roleplay. Whee. And lurk obsessively, of course.

*waves to everyone*

Do y'all know of any peer-reviewed story archives (other than HASA)? We're doing group reports on marketing/publication info for my Creative Writing class, and I'm in the group looking at Web fiction, so I thought I'd look at fanfic archives.

Poor community should stop being dead.

I'll even post content in it if it'll stop being dead.

Hi, I realize I'm still of the PPC, but I joined this community anyways because a lot of the cool people are here. *waves*

Anyways, because this community doesn't seem to be going all active, who was your first literary crush? Or, if you've never had a literary crush, who is the coolest person you've ever encountered in a book?

Mine was Konishi Zenta, from Lensey Namioka's Zenta and Matsuzo mysteries. He was intense, intelligent, with a strong appreciation of beauty, and he was killer with a sword.

Since I don't want this community to die . . .

Worst piece of fan fiction you've ever read, and what made it bad? :-)

Mine: Agony in Pink. If you haven't read it, DON'T. Seriously. I wish that there really was such a thing as brain bleach, just so I could erase memories of it. It was bad in that it was a torture fic with no real plot, but all too many ways to maim/kill the Pink Power Ranger. >.< Yeah. Lovely. Makes Celebrian look like child's play.

Since I can't concentrate on my Latin homework, I figured I'd go ahead and add my icebreaker post.
I got into the PPC by reading the original series... I forget how soon after Jay and Acy started it, but they were only a few missions in. I was hanging around Odd Lots a fair amount, too, so when P@L announced the board, I was one of the first people to check it out--I think Jay, Saphie, and I were the first three people to post.
Well, we've had our ups and downs, this crew and I. I've fallen out with various people over the years, and one of those disagreements led to my leaving the board for six months or so in '04 (suffice it to say that it's really bad form to trash the author as well as the story). Since then, my involvement has been sketchy. Now I seldom have anything to say. Dunno if I'll officially leave again or just continue to semi-lurk, but it's not nearly as much fun as it used to be. (And there's almost no LOTR stuff going on anymore, which is why I joined in the first place.) So I've joined this bunch to keep up with people.

Since I started this community, I thought I'd post my story. =)

I discovered the PPC in June 2003, via a mention made by misscam somewhere down the road. At that point, I thought it was a cool series of stories, and didn't think anything more of it. One of the updates on I believe Cam's site led me to the PPC board in November 2003, a week after my sixteenth birthday. :-) I joined the PPC, and all was well . . . for a few months, anyway. I was really into fandom at that point, and was eating/sleeping/breathing LotR. I thought it was awesome that there was a community so dedicated to fan fiction. I hero-worshipped the older boarders. Around Christmas time 2003, I started to hang out in the chat. I think that's what ruined it for me. January 2004 was the mess with Redwolf the Weird, and her repeated attempts to join the board; February I can't remember being involved in any crisises. I know that Lia Silverfang came along after a while, and I tried to help reconcile her with the rest of the boarders—namely fondued_jicama.

Back to what I said in the chat. To be fair, I had loads of fun there at first. I met awesome people like hawkelf, I joked around, it was all fun. We 'Sued/'Stu'd boarders, we RPed, and on March 20th, 2004, I narrowly escaped being married to "Elrohir," actually hawkelf. (I still have the transcript of the wedding chat on my old PC.) After a while, though, it started to get weird. People started "channeling" their agents—Teena being a prime example of this. I started to get irritated with the way things were. AP season hit, and I didn't have as much time for the Board or the Chat. The original Truth or Dare game happened, I didn't feel comfortable hanging around anymore, I felt out of place, I was having major offline issues; on May 19th 2004, I left. I thought I'd made the wrong decision at first, but after about a month, I was fine. I haven't looked back since.

Since leaving the PPC, I haven't been nearly as involved in fandom. But hey, I'm actually happy at the moment, so there you go.

*grumbles* It was animated, till I screwed it up when I saved it, but here:

For those that don't know HTML, you would use this: [a href="http://www.livejournal.com/community/exppc"][img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/jamador/SunflowerOfficial.gif"][/a], substituting [] for <> these.

Well, I've abused my power as a maintainer and messed around with the layout of the community. Take a look and see if you like it. If you don't, overthrow me or something. Jenn, I hope this is okay with you.

I think it's pretty nice. If anyone can improve it, or can think of a better layout of something, go for it.

My brain doesn't exactly work at 3:30 in the morning.
